Irrigation Rx, Inc. provides commercial clients with all of their snow removal and de-icing needs in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. We provide snow plowing for parking lots, main access drives, docks, sidewalk snow removal, and salting. During our Chicago winter storms it is important to Irrigation Rx Inc. that our customers can open for business on time and can safely stay open for business throughout the day.

Salt Application

Salting is a key element in the snow removal process. Applying salt to ice lowers the freezing point turning the ice into water. Salting fact: a 10% salt solution lowers the freezing point of ice to 20 degrees F and a 20% salt solution lowers the freezing point of ice to 2 degrees F.

Reasons for Salting:

• Ice is a legal liability for landlords and homeowners.
• Ice is a safety hazard for everyone.
• Ice damages your paved surfaces.

• Rock salt - Recommended for larger, more open surfaces. Rock salt is cost effective and recommended when used in large quantities. Rock salt is not recommended for concrete walks, driveways, steps, or to be used near plants and shrubs.
• Premium Ice Melter - Recommended for smaller areas made of concrete, brick, or stone. Premium salt is safe for vegetation and pets.
